Welcome to Kallista Tea Rooms!
Our iconic café was first opened as a teahouse in 1950. That's a lot of scones baked and served over the years as well as our daily cafe menu.
We offer something for everyone with all day breakfasts and our menu caters to vegetarian and vegan guests as well. We offer a wide range of gluten free options as well as catering to most dietary preferences and requirements.
Locals and tourists enjoy the tradition of visiting KTR to admire the modernist architecture by renowed architect Frederick Romberg. They spend time gazing out of the curved windows as the beautiful Dandenong Ranges are transformed through the seasons and often get the chance of laughing at the antics of the cockatoos, galahs, rosellas and other birds that visit and feed on the window feeders.
Since its opening, locals and visitors alike have enjoyed tea and scones at Kallista Tea Rooms. More recently there has been a revival in the ceremony of high tea. We love high tea and have designed ours to represent the identity of Kallista Tea Rooms whilst nodding to tradition.
Our high tea includes full table service and linen with fine china settings, but also highlights local and seasonal produce in our menu which changes with every visit.
The traditional layout is there - You will receive finger sandwiches, warm savouries and petite desserts, as well as our amazing scones, but you won't find mass produced quiches. Because we cater each high tea on the day using the best seasonal produce on hand, we can cater for all dietary needs individually. Guests with allergies and vegan guests are easily accommodated, just let us know in advance as specialty baking takes a little extra planning.
High tea is such a wonderful way to enjoy a few hours with family and friends. Be it a special occasion or just a good excuse for a catch up.
We hope you, your family and friends enjoy your visit to this beautiful part of our world and we look forward to seeing you soon.
