A good family walk in the Ferntree Gully area of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. Particularly if you aren't up for the challenge of the Kokoda Track Memorial Walk (1000 Steps) or Lyrebird Loop Track. The Living Bush Nature Walk starts at the Acacia Picnic Ground, just across the bridge from the kids playground and lets you experience the beautiful native bushland that surrounds this area. Walkers will experience spectacular fern gullies, tall Eucalypt trees and Messmate forest. The Musk Avenue section of this walk is a real highlight.
The area is a haven for native birdlife such as Kookaburras, Rosellas and Cockatoos.
Nearby you can go and check out the Burrinja Cultural Centre to experience some local arts and culture.
