Below are a few things worth noting before bushwalking the Dandenongs:

1. Go with small groups and never go alone.

Going alone will increase your chances of getting lost and hurt. Going alone will also reduce erosion and environmental damage. 

2. Stay on the track even if it's rough and muddy.

Walking on the track edges and cutting corners on steep 'zigzag' tracks, increases damage, erosion and visual scarring. 

4. Use the designated toilets (even if nature calls...)

Carry your rubbish with you and deposit and the entrances and exits of trails. 

5. Don't wash in streams and lakes. 

Detergent, toothpaste and soap (even biodegradable types) harm fish and aquatic life, so try to wash at least 50 metres away from streams and lakes.

6. But most of all have fun and take a million selfies...
